RACERS AND CREWS: Final Update
Last minute detail:
FRIDAY, MARCH 17 –
SATURDAY, MARCH 18 – RACE DAY
IMPORTANT – For this race, the first vehicle to cross the finish line after completing three 50-mile laps will get the Checkered flag and everyone else will be given the Check as well and finish, no matter how many laps you have completed.)
We are contemplating for the next UTV #3 race to have closing times at various spots/checks on the course. We will discuss this at the Mandatory Driver’s meeting.
If both the Production 1000 Pro Class and the Turbo Pro Class wish to combine the pro purse, you will have the opportunity to vote on this at the Driver’s meeting by a show of hands only from the Drivers. We may take a quick roll call.
THIS IS A FAST COURSE – Accordingly, please use caution at all times. Since we have an open desert (where others can enjoy riding or driving on it), it is imperative that you be aware of unrelated traffic in the desert. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to be aware of your surroundings.
Stay on the marked course at all times. We will have Mileage markers, a few ribbons and arrows but for the most part this is a GPS-BASED COURSE and your Navigator must navigate the course and stay on it at all times. If we see that you have deviated from the course we will either give you a warning or levy a time penalty.
25-MPH SPEED LIMIT: Upon entering the scoring chute and throughout the Main Pits the speed limit is 25 mph. Only after your see “END OF THE 25 MPH ZONE” you can resume your normal racing speeds.
Please keep your children off the pit areas and also your pets.
You must be at least 25-feet back from the actual course.
Please par perpendicular to the racecourse to allow others to have access to parking and pitting next to the course.
Remember this; YOU NEVER TRAVEL AGAINST THE RACE COURSE.
In this PURE 150 course there are several “access” sections where you MAY have to go in the same direction as the racecourse. You must stay to the right, off the course at all times, or if you cannot get off the trail you must keep your eyes open to pull over as a racecar comes from behind towards you. You cannot interfere with the race traffic.
IMPORTANT: Our Medics have preference over the entire racecourse. Please do not obstruct their path. They can also STOP the race if there is an emergency on the course. PLEASE RESPECT THEIR ACTIONS.
The “Alternate Fuel” stop is at RM21. Get there early before the race starts! Please pick up all trash that you bring. No other place to fuel except at the Main Pits.
Entering the Main Pits there is a speed limit of 25 mph. Please obey.
The “kml” Google Earth file, contains a number of “Access” roads marked in green. Please study them and familiarize yourself and your crew so that on race day you will have a good idea how to egress the course if needed.
We are also sending you the “jpg” course map to get an overview of the course. Print several copies for yourself. If there are any last minute changes we will let you know.
The “usr” file contains the same information but racers you may choose not to upload the added access information.
ALSO…This is the file where you might want to make your own notes as you pre-run.
CHASE CREWS: Remember, you cannot go out and retrieve your vehicle until you have contacted us and we’ve been able to provide you with the quickest way to get to your car.
AGAIN: The “access road” we are sending you may want to load it up on your chase truck(s) only.
Please pre-run carefully (NOT AT RACE SPEEDS), and make sure you know the course well.
If you find any problems, please let us know.
ONE BIG REMINDER: We hear that the “sheep” may be coming onto our desert to graze. Please be careful. We will try to contact those responsible for them and alert them that there is a race on Saturday, March 18.
The course will be marked with a few arrows, ribbons and mileage markers next Tuesday.
Have a great time pre-running. You are welcomed to stay overnight at the ranch and enjoy what promises to be a great weekend.
