PURE 150 RACE #6 & #3 OF THE PURE UTV SERIES & TRIPLE CROWN OF THE DEZERT – OFFICIAL CLASS RESULTS
Official results with penalties:
The Overall and Class results that follow contain various penalties assessed after every “tracker” has been checked. In reality, we could have issued additional penalties, but there was a glitch that we must take the responsibility. We had two “dead stop” signs that everyone had to negotiate. For the most part everyone did a great job. However, one of our traffic marshals was allowing racers not to come to a complete stop as long as they rolled across Proctor Blvd, at both ends, in a safe manner, and when there was no traffic.
That meant that when we checked the speeds at race mile (RM ) 4.8 and RM 14, we see that many slowed down to less than 5 mph and some did not stop. As we said, we later found out that one of our officials was allowing some of the cars to roll rather than stop. Too late to correct it, so unless you barreled through those two spots at higher than 10 mph, there are no penalties for not coming to a “complete stop” as we had announced. No harm no fowl.
Your speeds through the pits were good except for one racer, who was penalized for running over the speed limit inside the pits. When he was informed, the team and racer complied.
There were a lot of small driving errors, especially for some of the newer racers, but all in all, everyone did a good job. It was an excellent event. What made it even better, at least for us, was that there were no incident or accidents. That is just great!
I hope all of you enjoyed the weather. Lois and I contracted to have the winds pick up by 8 p.m. (which they did) and then back off a bit once the race was going, which it did. The temperatures were great and spectators throughout the course behaved marvelously. Thank you all.
Our next event is the double-points race, the PURE 300 – OCTOBER 27, starts at 10 a.m. – Four 75-mile laps make the race. Hope to see many of you. Bring more friends and racers. Let’s make this one the biggest of the year. Thank you all.
