2013 PURE SIDE-X-SIDE OFF-ROAD DESERT SERIES

The First Year is now Over and Champions are being Crowned for the DWT PURE SXS OFF-ROAD DESERT SERIES, Presented by SXSPerformance.com

With the running of the PURE "400" AVE has completed it's first year of the DWT PURE SXS SERIES, Presented by SXSPerformance.

This past weekend (Oct 25-27) saw the culmination of a total of 1,500 miles raced in the series--an effort that only a few were able to achieve. Congratulations to all who participated and their support groups and crews. It was a great challenge.

This last event, the PURE "400" also saw a change in the format. The 400-mile race was broken into two segments, each of 200-miles with a two hour break in between. Racers also saw a change in the starting format, as parts of the Alta Vista Ranch were graded to accommodate a "Land-Rush-style" starting format.

While the number of entries have been a bit disappoint in this first year, AVE and the crew is buoyed by the sponsorship support for this first year and what promisses to be even a bigger year in 2014.

Already listed on the schedule are five events with distances that will change to present the 2014 PURE 1000 SXS OFF-ROAD DESERT SERIES.

The first event is the PURE "125" (125-miles), slated for Feb 21-23, followed by the PURE "175" - Apr 4-6; PURE "200" - Jun 27-29; PURE "225" - Aug 8-10; and the PURE "275" - Oct 17-19, the last event will also pay Double Points."

New Teams and cars and efforts are now being readied to start the 2014 season with a big bang.

AVE ANNOUNCES AND ASSIGNS RACE NUMBERS FOR 2014

California City, CA – December 7, 2013 – AVE (Alta Vista Events) announced the assignment of earned race numbers for the 2014 PURE “1000” SXS OFF-ROAD DEESRT SERIES. Please note that the first number in each class is given to the Class Champion and/or racer who earned the most points in said class.

JOHNNY CAMPBELL to Race the "Legends" and Expert Classes at the CCGP

Johnny Campbell, who accepted the invitation to race in the "Legends" race on Sunday, which is part of the California City Gran Prix, Dec 20-22. will also be racing in the 40+ Exert Class as a warmup on Saturday.

A new "legend" in the works?: Fourteen-year-old Preseton Campbell will also be racing in the 85cc Novice Class on Saturday among all other 85cc entries and behind the women and 60+ years classes, scheduled to go off the line at 11 a.m.

THE 1.5K-KUP CHAMP

Congratulations to the team of Josh and Jim Westling (Polaris) for capturing top honors in the battle for the 1.5K-KUP. The Westlings completd a total of 1461 miles out of a possible 1500 to place atop the standings.

Short by only 37 miles was Logan Gastel (Can-Am) with a total of 1424 miles.

Rouding out the top three was (our mistake previously left out), Aaron Juarez who totaled 1224 miles due to the fact that he missed the first event of the season.

Now, young "Slasher" Matt Lasher (Kaw Terex) with a total of 1088 miles puts him in the top four overall, still a great accomplishment for this young phenom.

Their awards will be presented in December whern overall and class championships will be awarded.

Someone calculated that the top three logged 3973 miles which is like driving from Los Angeles to Chicago, then to New York, then making a stop in Atlanta and on to Miami, ending in Tampa, covering almost 4,000 miles in their SXSs.

The Son and Father team of Josh and Jim Westling picked up the OVERALL at the recent DWT PURE "400" Presented by SXSPerformance. The PURE "400" consisted of two, 200 mile stints, and when it was all said and done, the Westling's took the top prize! Complete story shortly.
